Since 2016, we have provided concrete construction services for some of Wisconsin’s leading commercial general contractors and developers, as well as residential customers. We are looking for a skilled Estimator who will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical skills, and a proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities

- Analyze project plans, specs, and documents and highlight key items for review in the bidding process
- Evaluate the project's risk, including project location, scope of work, site conditions, and client
- Communicate all project risks with the account manager
- Review and perform a scope takeoff from the project plans
- Compile material quantities from the project plans
- Gather material pricing from vendors and record the pricing in the project folder
- Create the project estimate/quote in a detailed format
- Send the quote to the client and the project account manager as plan revisions come out, repeat previous steps from the top
- Work with the account manager to negotiate the project with the client
- Update our estimating software with key information win, loss, estimated hours etc.
- Schedule an internal full scope review/handoff with the pre-construction team within two days of project award
- Negotiate final pricing with suppliers and choose suppliers
- Prepare the final cost sheets to match the negotiated contract amount
- Assist the PM on large changes in the project plans throughout the Lifetime of the project

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of related experience  
- 3 years related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Qualifications

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Good listening skills  
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to calculate area and volume
- Must be able to interface with clients and co-workers
- Ability to define problems, collect information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
